About Kathlyn Sanga-Flores, The Skincare Geek

Kathlyn Sanga-Flores is a Licensed Esthetician based in San Diego, California who specializes in educating clients in holistic wellness practices and addressing specific skin concerns such as adult acne and aging in her virtual consultations while providing therapeutic and rejuvenating facial massages. Kathlyn utilizes a holistic corneotherapeutic approach, where she investigates causes of a condition before selecting appropriate interventions. Kathlyn is personable and believes that getting to know clients beyond their skin concern fosters genuine connection and relatability. She has a wide base of clientele with different skin conditions: from budding professionals in their late 20s to successful and wise women in their 80s.

Her holistic approach to skin wellness emerged when she had the honor of working as an esthetician at one of the most prestigious wellness spas in the world - Golden Door . It is a luxurious Japanese-zen inspired resort tucked on a mountainside in San Marcos, California. She played a role in a person’s healing process by providing skin care services that are part of a holistic form of therapy. The journey back to one’s self is the ultimate goal of this sanctuary. Through her time in this magical place, her interest in addressing things holistically grew as she personally witnessed the healing powers of treating the mind, body and spirit as one. Currently, she is working at Estancia La Jolla, an AAA Four Diamond boutique hotel and 2020 Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Award winner and Lash Love & Co, a luxury lash & facial boutique clinic.

In 2019, she experienced adult acne herself and it deepened her understanding on the crippling effects acne and other skin conditions can bring on one’s mental health. Her skin only improved the minute she reassessed and improved her daily habits - she saw for herself how her products became more effective the minute she decided to improve other aspects of her life - she got into yoga and daily walks and started to become more mindful with what she ate. In that process, she was able to manage her stress levels better and rebuilt her self-confidence knowing her blemishes were just acting as a signal rather than a nuisance. She really got to the root of the problem and it encouraged her to treat her clients the same way.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, it allowed her to refocus on creating awareness of how skin care is beyond products through her personal brand, The Skincare Geek. The Skincare Geek originated as a passion project that eventually turned into how it is today, a one-on-one resource for people who want to improve and learn the true meaning of self care through skincare.
